# Paper vs Genogram Creator

The clearest difference is rating: Paper at 4.6 against Genogram Creator's 4.0. Paper also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (73K vs 5). Genogram Creator's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Paper sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Genogram Creator sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $49.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Paper holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Paper has 73K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Paper's written reviews are positive against 50% of Genogram Creator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Paper ships an update every 2 months, Genogram Creator every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
