# Foxit PDF Editor vs Unlock PDF

The clearest difference is rating: Unlock PDF at 5.0 against Foxit PDF Editor's 4.5. Foxit PDF Editor's advantage is ratings volume (4.8K vs 2) and review sentiment (68% vs 44%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Foxit PDF Editor sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Unlock PDF sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Unlock PDF holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Foxit PDF Editor has 4.8K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of Foxit PDF Editor's written reviews are positive against 44% of Unlock PDF's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Foxit PDF Editor ships an update monthly, Unlock PDF every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
