# mconnect Player Lite vs Play

The clearest difference is rating: Play at 4.5 against mconnect Player Lite's 3.5. Play also leads on ratings volume (3.5K vs 42) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). mconnect Player Lite's advantage is review sentiment (62% vs 25%) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Play holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Play has 3.5K ratings behind it against 42, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of mconnect Player Lite's written reviews are positive against 25% of Play's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

mconnect Player Lite ships an update every 3 weeks, Play every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
