# Google Drive vs MEGA

The clearest difference is ads: Google Drive at none against MEGA's shown. Google Drive also leads on ratings volume (7.8M vs 107K) and review sentiment (65% vs 46%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Google Drive sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and MEGA sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $6.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Google Drive holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Google Drive has 7.8M ratings behind it against 107K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 65% of Google Drive's written reviews are positive against 46% of MEGA's.

Google Drive ships an update weekly, MEGA every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 7, 2026.
