# MAPS.ME vs We Maps

The clearest difference is rating: MAPS.ME at 4.7 against We Maps's 4.0. MAPS.ME also leads on ratings volume (79K vs 55) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). We Maps's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MAPS.ME sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and We Maps sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MAPS.ME holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MAPS.ME has 79K ratings behind it against 55, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of MAPS.ME's written reviews are positive against 65% of We Maps's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MAPS.ME ships an update fortnightly, We Maps every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
