# SecureZIP Reader vs RAR Unzip

The clearest difference is rating: RAR Unzip at 4.6 against SecureZIP Reader's 2.6. RAR Unzip also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (3.1K vs 8). SecureZIP Reader's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 8) and review sentiment (69% vs 59%). On price, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. RAR Unzip sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. SecureZIP Reader asks for nothing beyond the download.

RAR Unzip holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RAR Unzip has 3.1K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of SecureZIP Reader's written reviews are positive against 59% of RAR Unzip's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SecureZIP Reader ships an update every 7 months, RAR Unzip weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
