# DMV Genie vs CDL Prep

The clearest difference is ratings volume: DMV Genie at 184K against CDL Prep's 7. DMV Genie also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and chart position (#43 vs unranked). CDL Prep's advantage is iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DMV Genie sells 27 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and CDL Prep sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for DMV Genie against 4.9 for CDL Prep. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DMV Genie has 184K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DMV Genie ships an update fortnightly, CDL Prep every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
