# Tiny Calendar vs WidgetCal

The clearest difference is monetization model: WidgetCal at freemium against Tiny Calendar's subscription. WidgetCal also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Tiny Calendar's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 32 months) and ratings volume (21K vs 1). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tiny Calendar sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per 7 days and WidgetCal sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

WidgetCal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tiny Calendar has 21K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Tiny Calendar ships an update every 2 months, WidgetCal every 32 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
