# Office Plus vs ES File Explorer

The clearest difference is rating: ES File Explorer at 4.6 against Office Plus's 3.6. ES File Explorer also leads on ratings volume (15K vs 5). Office Plus's advantage is review sentiment (78% vs 64%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Office Plus sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and ES File Explorer sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ES File Explorer holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ES File Explorer has 15K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of Office Plus's written reviews are positive against 64% of ES File Explorer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Office Plus ships an update every 2 weeks, ES File Explorer every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
