# TV 2 Play vs RÚV

The clearest difference is monetization model: RÚV at free against TV 2 Play's subscription. RÚV also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (29% vs 14%). TV 2 Play's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, rating, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

TV 2 Play holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 503 and 227 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of TV 2 Play's written reviews are positive against 29% of RÚV's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TV 2 Play ships an update fortnightly, RÚV monthly. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
