# TV 2 Play vs DRTV

The clearest difference is rating: TV 2 Play at 4.5 against DRTV's 2.6. TV 2 Play also leads on ratings volume (503 vs 13). DRTV's advantage is monetization model (free vs subscription) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

TV 2 Play holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TV 2 Play has 503 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of TV 2 Play's written reviews are positive against 24% of DRTV's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TV 2 Play ships an update fortnightly, DRTV every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
