# mk2 vs Free TV

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Free TV at 81% against mk2's 46%. Free TV also leads on ratings volume (96K vs 2) and device support (5 vs 2). mk2's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

mk2 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Free TV has 96K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of mk2's written reviews are positive against 81% of Free TV's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

mk2 ships an update every 5 weeks, Free TV every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
