# Reflow vs Guitar Notation

The clearest difference is monetization model: Reflow at free with in-app purchases against Guitar Notation's subscription. Reflow also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months). Guitar Notation's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 3.5) and review sentiment (58% vs 44%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Reflow sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Guitar Notation sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Guitar Notation holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Guitar Notation has 249 ratings behind it against 33, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 44% of Reflow's written reviews are positive against 58% of Guitar Notation's.

Reflow ships an update every 2 weeks, Guitar Notation every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
