# Word Chums! vs Word Chums

The clearest difference is price: Word Chums! at Free against Word Chums's $4.99. Word Chums! also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (24K vs 5). Word Chums's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months) and review sentiment (98% vs 89%). Word Chums! is free to download; Word Chums costs $4.99 up front. Word Chums! sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Word Chums sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Word Chums! holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Word Chums! has 24K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 89% of Word Chums!'s written reviews are positive against 98% of Word Chums's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
