# Backgammon vs Backgammon Multiplayer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Backgammon Multiplayer at 100% against Backgammon's 32%. Backgammon Multiplayer also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). Backgammon's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 2.5) and in-app purchases (none vs 1). On price, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon Multiplayer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Backgammon asks for nothing beyond the download.

Backgammon holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backgammon has 588 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 32% of Backgammon's written reviews are positive against 100% of Backgammon Multiplayer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backgammon ships an update every 2 months, Backgammon Multiplayer every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
