# Backgammon vs Backgammon Unlimited

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Backgammon at none against Backgammon Unlimited's 1. Backgammon also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (596 vs 103). Backgammon Unlimited's advantage is review sentiment (60% vs 32%). On price, rating, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon Unlimited sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Backgammon asks for nothing beyond the download.

Backgammon holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backgammon has 596 ratings behind it against 103, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 32% of Backgammon's written reviews are positive against 60% of Backgammon Unlimited's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backgammon ships an update every 2 months, Backgammon Unlimited every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
