# Onion Browser vs EcoPay

The clearest difference is rating: EcoPay at 5.0 against Onion Browser's 3.2. EcoPay also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). Onion Browser's advantage is ratings volume (2.1K vs 2) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Onion Browser sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. EcoPay asks for nothing beyond the download.

EcoPay holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Onion Browser has 2.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Onion Browser ships an update every 3 weeks, EcoPay every 4 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
