# Compass° vs ChemTracker

The clearest difference is ads: ChemTracker at none against Compass°'s shown. ChemTracker also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 18 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 82%). Compass°'s advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (59K vs 7). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Compass° holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Compass° has 59K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of Compass°'s written reviews are positive against 100% of ChemTracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Compass° ships an update every 18 months, ChemTracker every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
