# STAR 99.1 vs Star 99.9

The clearest difference is ads: STAR 99.1 at none against Star 99.9's shown. STAR 99.1 also leads on ratings volume (982 vs 3) and rating (4.9 vs 4.7). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

STAR 99.1 holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: STAR 99.1 has 982 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 98% of STAR 99.1's written reviews are positive against 100% of Star 99.9's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

STAR 99.1 ships an update every 6 months, Star 99.9 every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
