# Chess without ads vs Chess Elo Calculator

The clearest difference is rating: Chess without ads at 4.7 against Chess Elo Calculator's 3.0. Chess without ads also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (39K vs 2). Chess Elo Calculator's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 7) and review sentiment (100% vs 91%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chess without ads sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per 7 days. Chess Elo Calculator asks for nothing beyond the download.

Chess without ads holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess without ads has 39K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 91% of Chess without ads's written reviews are positive against 100% of Chess Elo Calculator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Chess without ads ships an update fortnightly, Chess Elo Calculator every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
