# Chess without ads vs Latch

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Latch at none against Chess without ads's 7. Latch also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). Chess without ads's advantage is ratings volume (39K vs 1) and device support (3 vs 1). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chess without ads sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per 7 days. Latch asks for nothing beyond the download.

Latch holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess without ads has 39K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Chess without ads ships an update fortnightly, Latch weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
