# HQS vs Time by Mainspring

The clearest difference is rating: HQS at 4.2 against Time by Mainspring's 1.3. HQS also leads on ratings volume (89 vs 6) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 14.0). Time by Mainspring's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HQS holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 1.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HQS has 89 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of HQS's written reviews are positive against 8% of Time by Mainspring's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HQS ships an update every 3 months, Time by Mainspring every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
