# Joss & Main vs Composite

Joss & Main and Composite both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Composite's written reviews are positive against 68% of Joss & Main's. Composite also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.0). Joss & Main's advantage is ratings volume (65K vs 7). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Joss & Main against 5.0 for Composite. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Joss & Main has 65K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 68% of Joss & Main's written reviews are positive against 100% of Composite's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
