# Joss & Main vs Marshview Mercantile

The clearest difference is monetization model: Marshview Mercantile at free against Joss & Main's free with in-app purchases. Marshview Mercantile also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). Joss & Main's advantage is ratings volume (65K vs 1) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Joss & Main against 5.0 for Marshview Mercantile. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Joss & Main has 65K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Joss & Main ships an update weekly, Marshview Mercantile monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
