# Anime boxes vs Overboard

The clearest difference is update cadence: Overboard at every 4 days against Anime boxes's every 4 months. Overboard also leads on device support (6 vs 2). Anime boxes's advantage is ratings volume (334 vs 39). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Anime boxes sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Overboard sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Anime boxes holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Anime boxes has 334 ratings behind it against 39, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of Anime boxes's written reviews are positive against 71% of Overboard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Anime boxes ships an update every 4 months, Overboard every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
