# FTPManager vs SMB Manager

The clearest difference is rating: FTPManager at 4.5 against SMB Manager's 2.9. FTPManager also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ratings volume (2.6K vs 16). SMB Manager's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SMB Manager sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. FTPManager asks for nothing beyond the download.

FTPManager holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FTPManager has 2.6K ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 48% of FTPManager's written reviews are positive against 29% of SMB Manager's.

FTPManager ships an update every 2 months, SMB Manager monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
