# NFPA Journal vs Frontline Wildfire Tracker

The clearest difference is ads: NFPA Journal at none against Frontline Wildfire Tracker's shown. NFPA Journal also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (2.5 vs 2.3). Frontline Wildfire Tracker's advantage is ratings volume (168 vs 8) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

NFPA Journal holds the better App Store score, 2.5 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Frontline Wildfire Tracker has 168 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of NFPA Journal's written reviews are positive against 40% of Frontline Wildfire Tracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

NFPA Journal ships an update every 3 months, Frontline Wildfire Tracker every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
