# Storm Shield vs PlanetCast

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: PlanetCast at none against Storm Shield's 7. PlanetCast also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Storm Shield's advantage is ratings volume (114K vs 3) and chart position (#17 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Storm Shield sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. PlanetCast asks for nothing beyond the download.

PlanetCast holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Storm Shield has 114K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
