# BOTB vs PistonHeads

The clearest difference is review sentiment: BOTB at 81% against PistonHeads's 38%. BOTB also leads on ratings volume (42 vs 1) and update cadence (every 6 days vs fortnightly). PistonHeads's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PistonHeads holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BOTB has 42 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 81% of BOTB's written reviews are positive against 38% of PistonHeads's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BOTB ships an update every 6 days, PistonHeads fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
