# BOTB vs Hive

The clearest difference is review sentiment: BOTB at 81% against Hive's 18%. BOTB also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.2) and update cadence (every 6 days vs fortnightly). Hive's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (810 vs 41). On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BOTB holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hive has 810 ratings behind it against 41, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 81% of BOTB's written reviews are positive against 18% of Hive's.

BOTB ships an update every 6 days, Hive fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
