# Shell Mania vs ABCD Spelling

The clearest difference is rating: Shell Mania at 4.0 against ABCD Spelling's 3.3. Shell Mania also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (33 vs 6). ABCD Spelling's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 38 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shell Mania sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and ABCD Spelling sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shell Mania holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shell Mania has 33 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Shell Mania ships an update every 38 months, ABCD Spelling monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 7, 2026 and September 13, 2026 respectively.
