# Felt Magazine vs ThreadABead Pattern Reader

The clearest difference is update cadence: ThreadABead Pattern Reader at every 4 weeks against Felt Magazine's every 8 months. Felt Magazine's advantage is ratings volume (19 vs 2) and iOS requirement (11.2 vs 17.6). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Felt Magazine sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and ThreadABead Pattern Reader sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $12.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Felt Magazine against 5.0 for ThreadABead Pattern Reader. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Felt Magazine has 19 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Felt Magazine ships an update every 8 months, ThreadABead Pattern Reader every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
