# Formitize vs Joist

The clearest difference is rating: Joist at 4.7 against Formitize's 4.0. Joist also leads on ratings volume (14K vs 2) and chart position (#16 vs unranked). Formitize's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and review sentiment (73% vs 62%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Joist sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Formitize asks for nothing beyond the download.

Joist holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Joist has 14K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of Formitize's written reviews are positive against 62% of Joist's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Formitize ships an update every 3 weeks, Joist every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
