# Happy Scale vs BMI Calculator・Weight Tracker

The clearest difference is monetization model: BMI Calculator・Weight Tracker at freemium against Happy Scale's subscription. BMI Calculator・Weight Tracker also leads on iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). Happy Scale's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (58K vs 517). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Happy Scale sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and BMI Calculator・Weight Tracker sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Happy Scale against 4.8 for BMI Calculator・Weight Tracker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Happy Scale has 58K ratings behind it against 517, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 92% of Happy Scale's written reviews are positive against 84% of BMI Calculator・Weight Tracker's.

Happy Scale ships an update every 5 days, BMI Calculator・Weight Tracker every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
