# SmartScan Pro vs mScanner

The clearest difference is monetization model: SmartScan Pro at free with in-app purchases against mScanner's subscription. SmartScan Pro also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 417). mScanner's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (83% vs 68%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SmartScan Pro sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and mScanner sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SmartScan Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.4K and 417 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of SmartScan Pro's written reviews are positive against 83% of mScanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SmartScan Pro ships an update every 2 months, mScanner fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
