# SmartScan Pro vs Scanner App

SmartScan Pro and Scanner App both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 68% of SmartScan Pro's written reviews are positive against 26% of Scanner App's. SmartScan Pro also leads on ads (none vs shown). Scanner App's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (12K vs 1.4K). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SmartScan Pro sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Scanner App sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for SmartScan Pro against 4.6 for Scanner App. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner App has 12K ratings behind it against 1.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 68% of SmartScan Pro's written reviews are positive against 26% of Scanner App's.

SmartScan Pro ships an update every 2 months, Scanner App fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
