# SmartScan Pro vs Scanner

The clearest difference is ads: SmartScan Pro at none against Scanner's shown. SmartScan Pro also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 18 months) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 11). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SmartScan Pro sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SmartScan Pro has 1.4K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of SmartScan Pro's written reviews are positive against 50% of Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SmartScan Pro ships an update every 2 months, Scanner every 18 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
