# AIM Weather vs WeatherRadar Basic

The clearest difference is rating: AIM Weather at 4.4 against WeatherRadar Basic's 2.3. AIM Weather also leads on ratings volume (154 vs 3) and device support (4 vs 2). WeatherRadar Basic's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AIM Weather sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per year. WeatherRadar Basic asks for nothing beyond the download.

AIM Weather holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AIM Weather has 154 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of AIM Weather's written reviews are positive against 67% of WeatherRadar Basic's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

AIM Weather ships an update every 15 months, WeatherRadar Basic every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
