# Direction vs GPS Navigation

The clearest difference is ads: Direction at none against GPS Navigation's shown. Direction also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 4 months) and rating (4.5 vs 4.1). GPS Navigation's advantage is ratings volume (120 vs 6) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.6). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Direction sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and GPS Navigation sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Direction holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GPS Navigation has 120 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 25% of Direction's written reviews are positive against 0% of GPS Navigation's.

Direction ships an update every 9 days, GPS Navigation every 4 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
