# Global Locator vs Map Switch

The clearest difference is update cadence: Map Switch at every 3 months against Global Locator's every 15 months. Map Switch also leads on iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Global Locator ships an update every 15 months, Map Switch every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
