# Marinus vs KnotWright

The clearest difference is rating: Marinus at 4.4 against KnotWright's 1.0. Marinus also leads on ratings volume (215 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). KnotWright's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Marinus sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $8.99 per year and KnotWright sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Marinus holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Marinus has 215 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Marinus ships an update every 5 weeks, KnotWright fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
