# Hand Reading Lite vs PalmHD

The clearest difference is rating: PalmHD at 4.0 against Hand Reading Lite's 3.3. PalmHD also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 25 months) and ratings volume (1.9K vs 3). Hand Reading Lite's advantage is review sentiment (56% vs 28%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hand Reading Lite sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and PalmHD sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PalmHD holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PalmHD has 1.9K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of Hand Reading Lite's written reviews are positive against 28% of PalmHD's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hand Reading Lite ships an update every 25 months, PalmHD monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
