# BrainPOP Jr. vs Ascent

The clearest difference is rating: Ascent at 5.0 against BrainPOP Jr.'s 4.6. Ascent also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 6 weeks). BrainPOP Jr.'s advantage is ratings volume (21K vs 1) and device support (4 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BrainPOP Jr. sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Ascent sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ascent holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BrainPOP Jr. has 21K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

BrainPOP Jr. ships an update every 6 weeks, Ascent every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
