# Sound Effects! vs 101 Soundboards

The clearest difference is rating: 101 Soundboards at 4.4 against Sound Effects!'s 3.4. 101 Soundboards also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). Sound Effects!'s advantage is review sentiment (63% vs 32%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.4). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sound Effects! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. 101 Soundboards asks for nothing beyond the download.

101 Soundboards holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 101 Soundboards has 510 ratings behind it against 50, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Sound Effects!'s written reviews are positive against 32% of 101 Soundboards's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Sound Effects! ships an update every 5 months, 101 Soundboards every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
