# The Mp3 Experiment vs Met Opera

The clearest difference is rating: Met Opera at 4.9 against The Mp3 Experiment's 3.8. Met Opera also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (4.2K vs 12). The Mp3 Experiment's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (78% vs 57%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Met Opera holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Met Opera has 4.2K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of The Mp3 Experiment's written reviews are positive against 57% of Met Opera's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Mp3 Experiment ships an update every 9 months, Met Opera fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
