# DISCOVER Magazine vs Elder's Digest

DISCOVER Magazine and Elder's Digest both sit at 1.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 42% of DISCOVER Magazine's written reviews are positive against 0% of Elder's Digest's. DISCOVER Magazine also leads on ratings volume (47 vs 8). Elder's Digest's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and iOS requirement (10.3 vs 12.2). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DISCOVER Magazine sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Elder's Digest asks for nothing beyond the download.

Elder's Digest holds the better App Store score, 1.6 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DISCOVER Magazine has 47 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of DISCOVER Magazine's written reviews are positive against 0% of Elder's Digest's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DISCOVER Magazine ships an update every 4 months, Elder's Digest every 5 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
