# FTP Sprite vs File Manager

The clearest difference is rating: File Manager at 4.3 against FTP Sprite's 3.1. File Manager also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). FTP Sprite's advantage is review sentiment (56% vs 22%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FTP Sprite sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and File Manager sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

File Manager holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: File Manager has 122 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of FTP Sprite's written reviews are positive against 22% of File Manager's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

FTP Sprite ships an update every 4 months, File Manager every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
