# FTP Sprite vs File Manager

The clearest difference is rating: File Manager at 4.2 against FTP Sprite's 3.1. File Manager also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). FTP Sprite's advantage is review sentiment (55% vs 17%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FTP Sprite sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and File Manager sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

File Manager holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 14 and 55 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of FTP Sprite's written reviews are positive against 17% of File Manager's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

FTP Sprite ships an update every 4 months, File Manager monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
