# Ag PhD Field Guide vs Bayer Spray

The clearest difference is rating: Bayer Spray at 3.8 against Ag PhD Field Guide's 2.5. Bayer Spray also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (59 vs 8). Ag PhD Field Guide's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 40%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Bayer Spray holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bayer Spray has 59 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Ag PhD Field Guide's written reviews are positive against 40% of Bayer Spray's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ag PhD Field Guide ships an update every 3 months, Bayer Spray monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
