# Drivers Ed vs DMV

The clearest difference is update cadence: DMV at fortnightly against Drivers Ed's every 20 months. DMV also leads on ratings volume (31K vs 1.1K). Drivers Ed's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Drivers Ed sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and DMV sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Drivers Ed against 4.7 for DMV. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DMV has 31K ratings behind it against 1.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 75% of Drivers Ed's written reviews are positive against 83% of DMV's.

Drivers Ed ships an update every 20 months, DMV fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
